Have you ever had a morning when you just didn’t feel like . . . getting up? Ever have a day when the thought of interacting with other people seemed too much to bare? Has anyone ever wanted to pull the covers over their heads and just pretend that the sun hasn’t come up, yet? If you’ve nodded yes to one or all of these questions, I’ve got one word for you: ARISE!!!
Listen, I’m not talking to those of you who need a little extra sleep as a result of staying up too late the night before. I’m talking to the person who feels the effects of a depression, a black hole, a pit. This is for the person who has a real feeling that you just don’t want to do “this” anymore. My word for YOU, again, is: ARISE!!!!!
What do I mean by “ARISE”? I mean GET UP, LOOK UP, STAND UP, STRAIGHTEN UP, BUCK UP, THINK UP, HOLD YOUR HEAD UP, LIFT YOUR CHIN UP. Go stand in the sun. Sit near a light. Raise the shades. Open the drapes. ARISE!!!
I know what you may be thinking: “But I have every reason to feel this way! You don’t know what happened. You weren’t there. ARISE? You don’t understand the pain I feel. I’ve been hurt, lied to, mistreated, deceived, tricked, manipulated. Now, you’re telling me to . . . ARISE? What happened to me was mean, cruel, evil, tragic, and devastating. I can never be the same.”
If those are your sentiments, the fact is: Nothing can change what HAS happened. However, the truth of God’s Word can change what WILL happen if you’ll hear and implement these instructions. See, the feelings you are having, no matter how legitimate, are no match for the Word of God and the resurrection power He has made available for you. You really can ARISE!!! But first, I must warn you: It won’t happen automatically. There is no button you can push. No pill you can pop. No clicking your heels three times. No code you can enter. No, none of that. But there is something you must do:
In the Book of Psalms (Chapter 107 verse 2) it says “Let the Redeemed of the Lord SAY SO.” In order to ARISE and escape that dungeon of depression, that depth of despair or that prison of pressure, you’ll need to SAY what the Word of God says about you. You must understand that in the Book of Romans (Chapter 8 verse 11), it
says, “…but if the same spirit that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies…” That word quicken means revitalize, re-energize, invigorate. That power is not just limited to your mortal body. That power is available to revitalize all of you . . . your thoughts, your mind, your being . . . YOUR LIFE! But, first things first, Ms. REDEEMED. Get on your job, Mr. REDEEMED. You’ve got to SAY SO!!! Now, start SAYING! Speak the Word of God when you don’t feel like it, when you don’t want to, when your head doesn’t believe what your mouth is saying . . . SO WHAT!!! Just ARISE and SAY SO! SPEAK THE WORD! Don’t know what to say?
Start HERE and SAY THIS:
- I will arise and shine for God’s light has come. The glory of the Lord is risen upon ME – Isaiah 60:1
- God is MY refuge and Strength. He is MY present help in troubled times – Psalm 46:1
- Let the Redeemed of the Lord say so. I am redeemed from depression and I say so. — Psalm 107:2
These are not positive affirmations. These are truths from the Word of God that have the power IN THEM to become a reality in your life. In the Book of Isaiah (Chapter 55 verse 11), it says, “My Word will not return void (like a check uncashed) but will accomplish that which I please and prosper in the thing whereunto it is sent . . . ” What does that mean? It means that God’s word has the power to bring itself to pass. You Speak, it works. You speak, it works. You SAY SO, it DOES SO. When you speak the word, the word goes to work to enforce itself, to become a reality in the life of the speaker; in YOUR life. If your head doesn’t believe it at first, that’s okay. Just keep at it. Everyday. In the morning, Arise! When you feel yourself getting down, Arise! Get hit with a negative thought, Arise. Arise and Speak! And watch the Word of God change your life.
So, now that you know what you know, embrace the power God has given you to change your life with His word. Make the commitment to Speak the Word and the word only about your situation. I know that there is a glorious future awaiting you. It’s HERE! Get READY! You CAN DO IT! HERE! TODAY! THIS MINUTE! RIGHT NOW is your time to . . . ARISE!
